week 1: getting to know my team and the class curriculum
This week was exciting! I got to meet up with my teammates, and learned that we all lived pretty close to each other. We were able to share some cool things about our home towns. We also established a good time to meet up, which is every Friday at 4pm.
It's great to know that my teammates are working at the same time as going to school. It makes this experience feel less lonely, especially since we're all remote.
In this week, it feels like we learned a lot all at once! The reading materials this week included a lot of history and insight on CSUMB, and the SCD programs. I didn't realize that there were so many faculty members, but it makes sense, since this program is so well organized.
I also learned about APA formatting, which is new to me. I'm used to MLA, since this is what I used in high school and community college, so this will be interesting to get to learn and get used to.
It was also great connecting with the faculty on LinkedIn and Google Meets, since this is a great way to connect and network.
One assignment we had this week which was really fun, was creating a team resume. I felt like it was a great way to get to know my team. We collaborated for 2 hours on Discord, while learning a lot about each other. I found from this experiment that one of our teammates is a really great Canva user, and built up our resume on there!
We also contributed to a group forum, where we introduced ourselves, and learned a bit more about our classmates.
Overall, it was a pretty great first week. I'm already seeing a research paper in the queue, so I'm looking forward to that soon.
